Sigma
Sigma Sport, founded in 1981, is a renowned German manufacturer of electronic sports equipment, based in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The company initially produced mainly heart rate monitors, bike computers, and altimeters before expanding its product range. Sigma’s products are divided into two main series: ROX and Topline. In 1982, Sigma collaborated with German electronics pioneer Klaus-Peter Schendel to introduce the first bike computer on the market, the Cyclecoach. This innovation marked the beginning of a long series of technological developments in the field of bike computers. Sigma then developed a new generation of feature-rich bike computers and also developed bicycle lighting systems, including front and rear lights approved for the German market, which proved very successful. In 2006, Sigma refreshed its brand identity and launched the new BC Topline series, using the DTS wireless transmission system (digital coding). Sigma continued to innovate with the launch of DATA CENTER, the company’s own analysis software, paired with the first generation of its ROX units (8.0 and 9.0). Then Sigma introduced the ROX 10.0 GPS, its first bike computer with GPS functions, followed by the ROX GPS 7.0 and 11.0 models. The company also introduced sports watches under the iD.SERIES, as well as the EOX series for e-bikes, setting new standards in this field. In 2019, Sigma obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification, demonstrating its commitment to quality and innovation. On 25 March 2021, Sigma Sport announced a restructuring of its activities to address a younger, more international audience, with an increased focus on cycling. This evolution was accompanied by a new logo and the addition of new brand ambassadors, including the German cyclist Marcel Kittel, the Dutch cross-country cyclist Anne Terpstra, Karl Platt, five-time winner of the Cape Epic, and Sergio Mantecon, a Spanish cross-country specialist.
