Here is the lightest electric road bike on the market (< 10 kg)

The e-bike world has moved fast in recent years, especially with the rise of electric gravel bikes. Road e-bikes, though, have often carried too much weight and compromised ride quality. Canyon aims to change that with the Endurace:ONfly, promising a lighter, more refined take on e-road. Tipping the scales at under 10 kg, this flagship build sets a new benchmark for the category.

Endurace:ONfly - a technical and aesthetic feat?

Canyon, working with TQ, designed the Endurace:ONfly to deliver an exceptionally natural pedalling feel while discreetly integrating the motor and battery into the frame. TQ’s HPR40 system supplies a 200 W boost that blends seamlessly with your pedal stroke. At 9.86 kg, it is among the lightest e-road bikes on the market.

The frame uses carbon and NeoBeam technology to pare back tube wall thickness without sacrificing strength. At the same time, the Endurace:ONfly is equipped with smart anti-theft features and built-in GPS, accessible via the Canyon app. Accessories such as the LightSKIN U1 Ultra front light and Canyon SightStays keep you visible and safe in all conditions.

Canyon’s Endurace:ONfly impresses on several fronts. Its low weight and clean integration set it clearly apart from competitors. Although the cost may seem significant, especially for the high-end SUB-10 model at nearly €9,999, the investment is justified by the quality and innovation it brings.

Riders will appreciate the smooth transition as you roll past 25 km/h, without the abrupt deceleration typical of many e-bikes.

Technical specifications

The Endurace:ONfly is offered in four models, with sizes from 2XS to 2XL. It features an integrated 290 Wh battery with an optional 160 Wh range extender. 180 mm disc brakes deliver confident stopping, even at high speed. Tyre clearance is up to 35 mm, adding versatility for mixed routes from tarmac to light gravel. Finally, wireless connectivity enables full integration with your devices for precise performance tracking.

How does the geometry differ from the regular Endurace?

The philosophy remains the same – balancing comfort and responsiveness. However, the ONfly version differs with:

  • chainstays lengthened by 5 mm (420 mm),
  • a head angle slackened by 0.75° (72°),
  • an overall wheelbase increased by 23 mm (1016 mm),
  • all to boost stability at higher speeds.

Canyon chose the TQ-HPR40 for several reasons:

  • ultra-compact form factor,
  • seamless integration (no need for a bulky control unit or display),
  • a very natural feel at the pedals,
  • ultra-quiet operation,
  • very low system weight for a mid-drive unit.

The motor offers three assistance levels, easily managed via the bar-mounted controller. Assistance ramps smoothly and the system stays quiet as you pass 25 km/h.

The system relies on a discreet controller integrated into the handlebar:

  • a press of the centre button to power the bike on,
  • a long press to change mode,
  • LEDs show battery level and the active mode.

Higher-end models feature buttons integrated into the hoods. All information can be displayed via the TQ app or on a connected ANT+ bike computer.

It’s hard to be precise, as range depends on terrain, rider weight, temperature, and more.
But with the 290 Wh battery and 160 Wh extender, you can reach around 100 km and 2,000 m of elevation gain in good conditions. The battery’s excellent energy density helps you make the most of each charge.

Absolutely. Each bike comes with:

  • a LightSKIN U1 Ultra front light (150 lumens for 25 g),
  • a Canyon x Lupine SightStays rear light (70 lumens, StVZO-approved).

Yes, thanks to the Comodule Guardian GPS module. Powered by the bike’s battery, it is activated via the Canyon app and alerts you if suspicious movement is detected when the bike is locked.
