The Hutchinson Touareg presented here is the Race version of the French brand’s gravel tyre. It keeps the Touareg’s versatile tread pattern, but with a race-oriented construction and an intended use on dry to hardpacked terrain.
Hutchinson positions this Touareg Race as a faster evolution of its historic gravel tyre. The brand claims a 35% improvement in rolling efficiency compared to the previous Hardskin version, notably thanks to the Mach Tread 3.0 rubber compound and the SwiftEasy Casing casing. The promise is clear: keep the grip that made the Touareg appealing, while reducing energy losses for a more committed use—especially gravel racing.
The tyre is Tubeless Ready, with a 127 TPI casing and folding beads. It’s made in France and offered in 700c, in three widths suited to current gravel setups: 40, 45 and 50 mm. Claimed weights start at 480 g in 700 x 40, rise to 550 g in 700 x 45, and reach around 618 to 620 g in 700 x 50 depending on the finish. Two aesthetic versions are planned: black or tan sidewalls.
The Touareg Race targets riders looking for a fast tyre that isn’t completely slick—able to keep control on dry tracks, smooth gravel roads, and compact surfaces. Hutchinson also presents it as a front-tyre option in a mixed setup with a Caracal Race on the rear, to prioritise rolling efficiency while keeping steering grip.
This Touareg Race is aimed more at riders who go fast and want to optimise their gravel setup than those looking purely for maximum protection. The range of widths makes it easy to match different bikes and terrain, with particular interest for modern 45 or 50 mm setups when frame clearance allows. Key point: a tubeless gravel tyre, made in France, designed for dry and fast courses, with a more race-focused approach than long-distance adventure riding.
