Mariposa Flowerpower Wax is a liquid, wax-based bicycle chain lubricant designed to keep your drivetrain clean and resist grime build-up better than conventional oils.

Its formula uses a water-based emulsion of naturally derived waxes, including sunflower seed wax. Mariposa quotes a wax-to-water ratio of over 50%, with no PTFE, no fluorinated compounds, no graphene and no sulphides.

The wax forms a lubricating film between the chain’s moving parts. Once the water evaporates, it leaves a wax coating that aims to reduce friction, cut noise and limit drivetrain grime.

Mariposa recommends a first application in two passes, with one drop per link, then a drying time of 2 to 3 hours between coats. For subsequent applications, wiping the chain may suffice if the drivetrain has not been exposed to mud or sand.

In our test, Flowerpower Wax proved effective in dry, temperate conditions, leaving a clean drivetrain and showing good longevity. Its main limitation appears in very high heat, where the wax loses stability. It is therefore particularly suited to riders who mostly ride in the dry and maintain their drivetrain regularly.
