The Elite Wheels Drive G42 are 700c carbon gravel wheels built around a 42 mm-deep rim with a 28 mm internal width. This profile targets modern wide-tyre gravel builds while keeping a lively, efficient feel on rolling terrain.

The rim is tube-type and tubeless compatible with a hooked bead. Elite Wheels quotes compatibility with 700 x 40 to 60C tyres, with 700 x 40C as the recommended size. External width is 36 mm and the finish is semi-matte UD carbon.

The hub uses a one-piece titanium freehub body with 6° engagement. The design prioritises durability and quick pick-up when you get back on the power, particularly for performance-focused gravel or routes with frequent accelerations.

The 28 mm internal width gives better support for wide gravel tyres. It can also increase a tyre’s measured volume once fitted, so be sure to check your frame and fork clearance before installation.

In testing, the Drive G42 felt direct, precise and quick. They add snap to a comfort-oriented gravel bike, with strong acceleration and speed on smoother terrain. The main limitation is compliance: they’re less forgiving than softer wheelsets on rough ground.
