Zipp

The story of the Zipp brand, a bicycle components company, begins in 1988. Originally, Zipp was involved in Indianapolis auto racing, with Leigh Sargent, an engineer specialising in aerodynamic design for Indy 500 cars. However, after looking into disc wheels for bicycles in the 1980s, he saw the potential to design something better and faster for cyclists. That’s how Zipp was registered as a brand, and its first product—a disc wheel—was designed for seven-speed bikes. In the years that followed, Zipp became a well-known name in the cycling world, notably in gravel. Zipp’s story continues today, with its mission unchanged since 1988: “Making You Faster”.
