Much cheaper than the competition: here is the new Rose SHAVE FFX!

With the SHAVE FFX, ROSE Bikes thoroughly refreshes its road line-up and turns the page on the X-LITE. This new platform, offered at three levels (SHAVE, SHAVE FF and SHAVE FFX), targets performance-focused riders with particular attention paid to aerodynamics, without straying into the excesses of full-on aero bikes.

The SHAVE FFX is the family’s showcase model, built for outright competition and aligned with current pro-peloton standards. It is, in fact, the bike raced by the Unibet Rose Rockets team.

🚀 In brief:

  • ROSE refreshes its road range with the SHAVE platform (SHAVE, SHAVE FF, SHAVE FFX), performance-oriented with an integrated aero approach (internal cable routing, one-piece cockpit).

  • The SHAVE FFX is the flagship race model: frame quoted at 840 g and complete bike at 6.7 kg in size M (aero bottle cages included).

  • Tyre clearance up to 35 mm and 55 mm ROSE carbon wheelset (23 mm internal), optimised for 28 to 32 mm tyres with VONOA carbon spokes.

A measured aero approach, integrated across the bike

On paper, the SHAVE FFX marks ROSE’s entry into the category of race bikes with a clear aerodynamic focus. Even so, the German brand is not chasing extreme shapes.

Tube profiles have been reworked – wider and more consistent – with tidy transitions and deep integration (internal cable routing, one-piece cockpit). The rear triangle, however, retains relatively slender and classic lines, particularly at the seatstays, to balance efficiency, weight and versatility.

Visually, the SHAVE FFX keeps things deliberately low-key. Aerodynamics is treated as a complete system here – frame, cockpit, wheelset and rider position working together – rather than a stylistic showcase.

A new SHAVE range structured in three tiers

The SHAVE platform comes in three distinct models:

SHAVE: race comfort focus

Positioned as the successor to the REVEAL, the SHAVE adopts a more accessible geometry, with a taller front end and a less stretched front triangle. It is aimed at riders seeking a fast bike that still suits long rides and everyday use.

Prices start at 3 600 € (Shimano 105 Di2) and go up to 5 200 € depending on the build.

SHAVE FF: direct heir to the X-LITE

The SHAVE FF carries over the same geometry and lines as the FFX, with a slightly less exclusive carbon lay-up. It keeps a clear racing focus at a sharper price, between 5 600 € and 5 900 €.

SHAVE FFX: uncompromising high-end version

The SHAVE FFX sits at the top of the range. It gets ROSE’s highest-grade carbon and race-focused components. Prices run from 8 000 € to 8 500 € depending on the build.

A light, modern frame despite the aero focus

ROSE quotes a bare frame at 840 g, which allows the complete bike to come in at 6.7 kg in size M, aero bottle cages included. A notable figure for a bike built around genuine aerodynamic thinking.

Tyre clearance increases up to 35 mm, opening the door to varied uses: rough roads, spring classics or more comfort-oriented setups, without compromising the bike’s performance positioning.

ROSE carbon wheelset and high-end components

The SHAVE FFX comes with a ROSE 55 mm-deep carbon wheelset, 23 mm internal, optimised for 28 to 32 mm tyres. Notable detail: the use of VONOA carbon spokes, the same as found on some high-end NEWMEN wheels.

For the drivetrain, ROSE understandably opts for the top-tier SRAM RED AXS groupset, with power meter included, paired with a 50/37 chainset and a 10-33 cassette. The frame also adopts the UDH standard, making rear derailleur replacement easier.

The in-house one-piece cockpit stands out with a narrow width (370 mm in size M), clearly aimed at an aerodynamic, race-focused position.

Compared with the X-LITE, the geometry evolves subtly. Stack and reach increase slightly, encouraging a more balanced position without betraying the racing DNA.

The wheelbase lengthens marginally to improve high-speed stability, while the rear stays compact to preserve liveliness.

In its approach, the SHAVE FFX is close to bikes like the Specialized Tarmac or the Trek Madone, seeking to combine efficiency, control and versatility rather than excel in a single area.

Our take on this Rose Shave

With the SHAVE FFX, ROSE takes a mature view of aerodynamics. No aesthetic rupture or radical solution, but coherent integration in a versatile, modern and competitive race bike.

The pricing, under 9 000 € in top-spec builds, pits the SHAVE FFX against market benchmarks that are often pricier at equivalent spec.

A bike designed for real performance on the road rather than marketing superlatives. Also worth noting are the colourways, still as surprising and unique to the German brand.
