SUNN hits hard: an aluminium gravel and a carbon gravel to win over adventurers and racers

Founded in 1984 in Saint-Gaudens, SUNN helped shape the European MTB scene. Its bikes have carried champions such as Nicolas Vouilloz, Anne-Caroline Chausson and Cédric Gracia, earning more than 80 world medals. Today, all models are designed and assembled at the Manufacture Française du Cycle in Machecoul (Loire-Atlantique).

After several seasons marked by a gradual return to the French market, the brand continues its push with two new gravel ranges. In a world dominated by road-born brands, SUNN asserts its off-road DNA and aims to offer bikes that are fun, robust, and versatile.

SUNN launches the new Venture and Venture Air gravel ranges, designed for versatility and performance.
Venture models are built from 6013 aluminium, combining strength and low weight, with prices from 1 499 € to 2 299 €.
The lighter Venture Air models, in Toray fibers, range from 2 999 € to 4 999 €.
The Venture Air Finest, the top-spec model, weighs 8.1 kg with a SRAM Force AXS 13-speed drivetrain.

Venture: premium aluminium to make gravel more accessible

An all-new 6013 aluminium frame

The Venture is not just another alloy gravel bike: SUNN chose 6013 aluminium, an alloy offering about 30% higher mechanical performance than the classic 6061. Result: a claimed 1,700 g frame, stiffer, more durable, and better suited to more demanding riding.

The design stays true to the brand’s style, with a pronounced sloping top tube and muscular lines. Smoothed welds mimic a carbon look, and tyre clearance goes up to 55 mm.

Geometry and details built for adventure

The bike was developed over nearly two years, with the aim of appealing to both newcomers and seasoned bikepackers. Its geometry targets a balance of comfort, stability, and agility.
Notable details include:

14 mounts on the frame to attach bags, bottles, and accessories,
internal or external cable routing (your choice) to make on-tour maintenance easier,
compatibility with the UDH standard (SRAM T-Type and future Shimano),
compact rear triangle for more grip and comfort.

The fork, in high-modulus/high-strength Toray carbon (420 g), adds even more mounting points and allows 55 mm tyres.

Build options for every use

The Venture range comes in three versions:

Venture S2 (1 499 €): Shimano CUES 10-speed groupset, Mach1 Cross wheelset.
Venture S1 (1 899 €): GRX 12-speed, in 1x or 2x, Mach1 Wookx 25 wheelset.
Venture Finest (2 299 €): high-end GRX drivetrain, DT Swiss GR 1600 Spline wheelset.

All models share a carbon seatpost, a Fizik saddle (except S2), and Hutchinson Touareg 45 mm tyres.

Venture Air: carbon for performance

A sub-kilo frame with Toray HM/HR fibers

The Venture Air pushes weight savings and efficiency even further. The Toray HM/HR fiber frame weighs just 996 g. The layup was tuned zone by zone:

maximum stiffness at the head tube and bottom bracket,
controlled flex in the seat tube and seatstays to maintain grip and comfort,
tyre clearance up to 50 mm.

The geometry is longer and more performance-oriented, yet remains accessible. SUNN even integrated a tool hatch in the frame and – a bottle opener!

A race-focused, efficiency-driven approach

This model clearly targets riders seeking speed and efficiency, while remaining versatile on both road and off-road. The carbon fork (420 g) offers multiple mounts, and the frame accepts mudguards and accessories.

Premium components all the way to the carbon cockpit

The Venture Air range consists of three main versions:

Venture Air S2 (2 999 €): SRAM Apex AXS 12-speed groupset, Mach1 Wookx 25 wheelset.
Venture Air S1 (3 999 €): your choice of SRAM Rival AXS 13-speed or Shimano GRX Di2, in 1x or 2x.
Venture Air Finest (4 999 €): SRAM Force AXS 13-speed, DT Swiss GRC 1400 wheelset (1431 g), for a total weight of 8.1 kg.

An integrated carbon cockpit, carbon seatpost, and Fizik Vento Argo X saddle complete these high-end builds.
