Product reviews carried out in real-world conditions

Every product is used in real-life conditions so we can go beyond the spec sheet and marketing claims. We aim to understand what it truly brings on the bike, who it is for, what its strengths are, and also where its limits lie.

Whenever possible, we favour long-term testing. Some products are used for several weeks, or even several months, to assess their day-to-day behaviour, reliability and value compared with other leading options on the market.

You can browse our reviews by product category or by brand, then open each article to read our full analysis, rating and opinion.

How do we carry out our bike reviews?

A Gravel Passion review is not limited to a few kilometres or a quick first ride. We try to place each product in a real-world use case, with the constraints that cyclists may face in everyday riding.

Depending on the type of equipment, we assess factors such as:

  • performance;
  • comfort;
  • build quality;
  • ease of use;
  • durability;
  • value for money;
  • positioning against the competition.

Our goal is not to repeat a brand’s claims, but to determine what the product genuinely offers and which type of cyclist it may be relevant for.

Independent and transparent reviews

The products we review may be loaned by a brand, made available temporarily, supplied to the editorial team or purchased by us. When relevant, we specify the conditions under which the product was obtained.

No brand approves our articles before publication, and no commercial relationship can alter our opinion. Strengths and weaknesses are presented freely by the editorial team.

Some links included in our reviews may be affiliate links. They may allow Gravel Passion to earn a commission, at no extra cost to the reader. This model helps fund the publication, but it does not influence either the rating or the content of the review.

Reviews to help you choose your gear

The cycling market moves quickly, with new products arriving all the time. However, not every innovation is necessarily useful, and not every product suits every type of riding.

Our reviews are designed to help you understand:

  • what a product really changes;
  • which type of riding it is designed for;
  • whether its price makes sense;
  • what its strengths and limitations are;
  • whether it deserves your attention compared with the competition.

Whether you ride gravel, road or bikepacking routes, this section brings together our real-world feedback to help you choose your gear with greater perspective.
